Type of Therapy
I work as a Contemporary Psychotherapist using an integrative approach. I work with neuro linguistics, which is the understanding of how thinking, feeling, language and patterns of behaviour relate to specific outcomes. Essentially this helps clients to become aware of the language of their own minds and to adapt in order to achieve their full potential. I offer a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can focus on the cause of your challenges, your immediate needs and your future wellbeing. I am used to working with clients in a needs-led way using a range of tools and platforms and hold the belief that it is you, the client, who is the expert and it is my job as the therapist to provide the conditions to enable you to make changes so that you can flourish. I will work with the issues you bring to therapy, rather than tell you what you should be addressing.
I am accredited with BeeLeaf Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy who are also accredited with UKCP. I therefore follow codes of ethics and practice, which you are welcome to see.
I believe that my role as your therapist is to offer you my time, attention and respect in order for us to work on the issues that you bring. Sometimes an issue that you bring may lead us onto another issue, I ask you to be open to what may arise during our sessions and know that working through these issues are all part of the process. But please note that you have a choice as to what psychotherapeutic interventions you engage with. I would like to advise you that I do not work with clients whilst they are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Therapy Sessions
Therapy sessions are offered via video or in person. They are 50 minutes in duration, and initially I expect to work with clients at least once per week but towards the end of therapy we can space the sessions as appropriate. Sessions are normally scheduled for the same day and time each week. However, for people who work shifts, or who are unable to work to a fixed schedule, I endeavour to meet their individual needs.
Once we have agreed a time then this will be reserved for you each week. If I go away then I will try and give you a month’s notice. If you are unable to attend your session then I ask for you to give me at least one weeks notice. All sessions booked must be paid for whether you attend or not (unless enough notice is given). If you wish to stop our therapeutic agreement then I ask for at least two weeks' notice, as then we can give respect and attention to the ending. If you are late to a session then that time cannot be made up.
Session Fees are £60 for 50 minutes. Payment can be made via cash or BACS. BACS details are: Sort code: 309693 Account no: 36286068. Acc Name: Mrs Nina Gaul. Please use your name as the transfer reference. Payment must be made within 24 hours of the session.
Privacy and Confidentiality
The topics that you discuss with me are confidential between us, the exceptions for this are that all therapists have supervision, which means that I have an opportunity to discuss the work that I do to ensure that I can support you as best I can. I do not identify you to my supervisor, who is also a trained therapist bound by confidentiality. You are always welcome to read any notes that I may take during our sessions.
For insurance purposes I am obliged to keep brief notes of our sessions. Any notes that I may make will be stored securely for up to five years and will not be made available to third parties unless mandated by law or at your request. After five years any notes will be destroyed. This is in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) applicable within the UK and European Union.
You must also abide by the rules of confidentiality, and must not record or make available the contents of our online sessions without my written consent. This explicitly means that you MUST NOT record or live stream our video or audio sessions, post any part of our sessions on social media, or arrange for others to do the same without my written consent.
Your sessions are for you alone, therefore others including young children should not be present during your online or telephone therapy sessions.
Contact between sessions
If you need to contact me between sessions then please call me on my work phone: 07818419926. This is a confidential phone line, which is only listened to and answered by me. Please leave a message and I will call you back, although this may not be on the same day. If you need support between sessions then I am prepared to call you back for up to 10 minutes free of charge.
